Cora inherits a house from a grandmother she never knew, and steps into a family history shaped by loss, silence and restraint. Familiar follows three shifting perspectives: Annie, approaching death and discovering unexpected freedom; Joyce, her daughter, almost mute; and Cora, who must learn to inhabit a place and a past withheld from her.
