Omschrijving

This is a celebration of linocut's most influential practitioners as well as the schools and workshops around the world that have championed and developed the printing technique as an art form. Beautifully illustrated, the book tells the story of linocut from its emergence as an accessible printmaking process in the first decade of the twentieth century and its adoption by experimental modernist artists through to its establishment as a distinct and versatile contemporary medium. The role of linocut as a vehicle for the political voice is explored, as well as the evolution of new techniques in the twenty-first century. Also included is a fully illustrated guide to the process itself.
